about

Initially, this was a compilation compact disc(or a mixtape of sorts) created in the time span of 2006-2007 tentatively entitled "4800 Seconds with No White Flag".

The tracks that you hear on this album are specifically the verses of JClazzified(1/2 of the Hip Hop duo No White Flag) from said project.

I wanted to share this project with all of you in memoriam of my No White Flag counterpart James Francis Burns II. It is literally a time capsule of some of the best memories creatively or other wise in my entire life.

Whether it be James,Jimmy,Jim,or Jimbo....
Anyone that knew him, knew of his musical gift and his lyrical prowess. The heartfelt passion he put behind each and every performance was like a special moment in eternity.

One view is what we saw and the other perspective was his. I want to publicly thank Jimmy for sharing his perspective on life with us all thru his music and his honest conversation.

Meeting Jimbo for the first time in life at Vineyard Christian Church Central Maryland, in the toddlers section during service he was in the back with his Dad. He looked like a modern day Bob Ross to me. Little did I know that building would be the epicenter and the birth of one of the best friendships I would ever have.

As I got to know him, his heart, his spirit, his kindness, his humility, and artistic ability are all just a blip on the radar of wonderful character traits he possessed.

We would go on to start a rap duo, record music, preform live, and eventually become roommates and live together for a number of years. We also became youth basketball coaches together, we broke bread and shared wonderful nights with our closest of friends.

He provided laughter and offered hope and light in a dark world.
He lives on through his son and in the hearts of all that love him. I can't wait to see him again someday.

No White Flag was born on July 4,2004. To be quite simple and straight forward, No White Flag consisted of two emcee's that dared to speak the truth.

What is truth? Truth is the opposite of falsehood. Truth brings forth freedom. Truth has many different forms and mutated forms,
but truth none the less is consistent to an extent. It was our desire to bring forth truth as we know it to the forefront of the Hip Hop community.

No White Flag was conceived out of a mutual desire of two friends more commonly known as JClazzified and Jimbo, to resurrect the culture of Hip Hop, if you will.

A few random words that describe these two individuals collectively are: innovative, poetic, abstract, complexed, transparent, sincere, and relevant.

No White Flag also tends to ponder the perception of: christianity, love/lust, racism, wack mcs, music, salary, government, gas prices, war without reason, judgement, condemnation, community, heart, politics, minds, people, and women.

No White Flag has a wide variety of musical taste. As artists they did not confine or restrict themselves to listening only to the genre of Hip Hop.

The following musicians in spite of their genre, were in some way or another influential artists in the very lives of No White Flag.

In no specified order...
Black Star, Common, Keith Green, Miles Davis, LMNO, David Bazan,
The Tunnel Rats, Sufjan Stevens, Binary Star, Ella Fitzgerald,
The Dungeon Family, Bjork, Masta Ace, John Legend,
C-Rayz Walz, Felt (Slug & Murs), DeepSpace 5, Bob Dylan,
Brother Ali, Elliott Smith, The Perceptionists, Regina Spektor,
The Remnant, Johnny Cash, Boot Camp Clik, Vetiver,
Soul Position, Aesop Rock, The Wu-Tang Family, Cannibal Ox,
Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, and GangStarr.

Like every other living breathing organism No White Flag also enjoys blessing their taste buds. Random places within the Anne Arundel County area of Maryland you could usually find them at were Panera, Chipotle, Taco Bell, and Howard's Subway.

No White Flag was influenced and inspired by the very world around them. Whether it was people, places, or things. One quote from a poet, one memorable line from a movie, one emotion that you experience on any given day, or a great meal that you enjoyed with an amazing circle friends can help you create timeless music.

A few of the movies No White Flag has been known to frequent are:
(In no specified order)
The Star Wars Epic, Vanilla Sky, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind,
V. For Vendetta, Four Brothers, I ❤ Huckabees,
The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, 8 Mile, Requiem For A Dream,
The Basketball Diaries, Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2, Coach Carter,
The Matrix Trilogy, Garden State, Beautiful Girls, Blue Chips,
A Scanner Darkly, Click, Hero, Hackers, Me, You and Everyone We Know, Squid and The Whale, Dead Presidents, Crash, Sideways,
Zebrahead, and Little Miss Sunshine. (Well you get the 'motion' picture.)

Now that you have a better understanding of WHO No White Flag was, WHAT they stood for, WHY they existed, WHERE they are from, you also now know how much I deeply cherish the memories that were made and the time that I spent with my dear brother James Francis Burns II.
